LIP ENHANCEMENT             Juvederm Ultra Smile  £300
Teosyal Kiss - Available on request

As we age, lip volume diminishes, and the lip border becomes less defined. Lines radiate from the perioral area into the lips, resulting in lipstick bleeding. Clients often feel that they would like fuller looking lips, more of a pout, or simply a more defined border. Smokers lines can also be treated by treating the lip border itself.

The lips are a very sensitive area and so treatment can be painful. We recommend having local nerve infiltration not unlike the injections you might have at your dentist to make the procedure pain free. The procedure can be undertaken using only an anaesthetic cream but may be more uncomfortable.  All lip enhancement treatments are given by the Lacosette practising doctor, Dr Gillian Farmer. Initial consultation is free and if you don't have the time, most questions can be handled over the phone by Dr Farmer.

I have seen pictures and read stories in the media about celebrities who have had disastrous results after lip augmentation.
How do I know I won’t end up like this?

These celebrities have often had silicone permanent fillers which can be difficult to correct, have more side effects and problems can occur years after treatment.  At Lacosette we only use temporary fillers which have very few side effects and which are naturally absorbed over time. The effects usually last for around 6 months. There are fillers which can be used which will last for 9 to 12 months if you are happy with your initial treatment and wish in the future to gain longer lasting effects. It is also important to use a reputable practitioner and Dr Farmer is fully trained and experienced in these procedures.

Is there anyone who can’t have this treatment?
You should avoid this procedure if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have ever had a previous reaction to dermal fillers, have a collagen disease, or have permanent fillers already in the lips. If you have current infection around the lip area e.g coldsores or acne, you will be advised to delay the treatment until this has fully resolved.

What are the possible side effects from treatment?
Swelling can occur up to one week after treatment but normally lasts for 24 to 48 hours only. There can be some discomfort in the lips afterwards, and as with any procedure there is a risk of infection and bruising. Rarely lumps can occur in the lips called granulomas. These risks will be discussed with you prior to the procedure.

What aftercare do I need to be aware of?
You should avoid cold and hot drinks until full sensation has returned to the lips, and make up should be avoided for 6 hours. Cold compresses can be used but ice packs should be avoided. Saunas, steam rooms and solariums  should be avoided for a few weeks afterwards.
