MUSCLE RELAXING INJECTIONS Botox® 1 Area £190 2 Areas £260 3 Areas £295
Botox® is one of the best non-surgical treatments for treating lines and wrinkles caused by smiling, laughing and frowning. It is used to prevent the muscle contractions that cause fine lines when the face is in motion. Treatments are given by the Lacosette practising doctor, Dr Gillian Farmer. Initial consultation is free and if you don't have the time, most questions can be handled over the phone by Dr Farmer.
The following areas can be treated effectively: • Glabellar / Frown Wrinkles
• Forehead Wrinkles
• Crow’s Feet Wrinkles
How does the treatment work?
Impulses are blocked from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. This relaxes the muscles so that they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin has been used safely for over twenty years to treat many neurological and ophthalmological disorders. Each year tens of thousands of patients receive Botulinum Toxin for relief from a variety of conditions and it is now a popular treatment for reversing the visible signs of ageing.
What does the treatment involve?
Using a tiny needle, a very small amount of Botulinum Toxin is injected with precision into several locations on the face. The needle is very fine therefore any discomfort associated with the injection is minimal. No sedation or local anaesthetic is required, and you can resume most normal activities immediately afterwards.
Are there any side effects?
Some patients experience slight temporary bruising at the injection site. In a few cases, there can be temporary weakness to nearby small muscles. In rare cases there can be drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. Any risks will be discussed with you before your treatment. Because the effects are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary.
What results can I expect?
Wrinkles are smoothed, giving a more youthful and pleasing appearance. The effects of treatment often take from 7 to 14 days to fully develop.
How many treatments will I need?
As muscle relaxing injections are a temporary solution for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles, you will need to have further injections to maintain the effect. Results last from three to six months and you will need to have injections about two to three times a year. The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of the treatment's benefits is increased over time so that you should require fewer injections in the future.
